This armor is a complete, matching armor dating from the second half of the
1600s through the 1700s. This particular style was used by and large by samurai
of the Date family in the Northern Kanto region and later in Tosa – Shikoku. All
fabric and lacing with the exception of the suneate fabric is perfectly
matching, correct and original to this armor. It is constructed of slightly
thicker than usual plate iron covered in lacquer as it was made for actual
fighting immediately following the Sengoku period before the country was
completely at peace. There is practically no lacquer loss to the armor and
overall condition of the armor is excellent, however, there are some small chips
or hairlines here or there in the lacquer. The armor comes with a very nice box
contemporary to its construction. There is some old damage on one side of the
bottom of the lid of the box that is not very noticeable and does not interfere
with the box closing. This armor is a serious armor, originally constructed for
the purpose of battle rather than display and we are very proud to be able to
offer it at this price.
