Okegawa Dou

Era: Late Momoyama-Early Edo

A rather well made munitions grade dou composed of black lacquered horizontally oriented, riveted, iron plates. This is known as an “okegawa dou”. Thouh in its original, complete 17th century original condition, it is rather rough. It has the original armory annotations in red lacquer on the inner front and back plates. This would make a good inexpensive restoration project or display as is.
