ranking
Here is a very rare site to see up for sale. This is a papered and
authenticated Nanbokucho period dai enzan style suji kabuto. The papers were
made last year by the NKBKHK. This kabuto achieved KOSHU TOKUBETSU rating,
which is the second highest rating given by the Japanese Armor society being one
below Juyo. In my opinion it deserves a Juyo rating. This kabuto is
42 heavy plates, a common construction for Nanbokucho Era kabuto. It is
relatively ubu as well, meaning that it is relatively unchanged from its
original condition. The iron of this kabuto is all unchanged, however it
originally had sofukurin with igaki and shinodare. This is evident from
the holes around the bottom of the suji plates just above where they meet up
with the koshimaki. Another rare attribute of this kabuto is the UBU
koshimaki. Most kabuto from the Nanbokucho period do not have koshimaki in
original condition due to modification, replacement or destruction . This piece
is an excellent example that we are very proud to be able to offer for
sale. This is a serious piece for the most serious and discerning of armor
collectors.
